Custom arch-top plantation shutters, center-open, in a coastal home.
Trusted by the Carolinas Since 1993 · Built to Size in Monroe, NC · ★★★★★ 4.9 / 60+ Reviews

Coastal homes don't come in tidy rectangles. Transom arches over the front door, the big sliding-glass wall facing the water, the half-circle window in a Calabash great room, the angled rake on an A-frame at the channel. Most window-treatment shops measure those, sigh, and steer you toward a blind.

We build them. Every specialty shape is made to the exact geometry of your opening in the same Monroe, NC factory our family has run since 1993 — same furniture-grade basswood, same triple-coated finish, same louver, tilt, mount and hinge options as our standard plantation shutters. Built for the beach. Made to last as long as the house does.

Before & After

The round window over the tub, solved.

A bare round window is beautiful — until you want a bath without the whole neighborhood. We built a custom round shutter to the exact circle, finished in black to match the frame.

Arch-Top Shutters — Our Specialty

The curve over your door is not a problem. It's the whole point.

Eyebrow, full, sunburst, multi-panel, center-open — every arch is templated on site and built to its true radius in our Monroe, NC factory. Never a square shutter crammed under a curve.

Built by hand, in our own factory.

Every shaped shutter — round, arched, angled — is templated at your window by Chad, then cut and finished by hand at our Monroe, NC workshop, the same family factory running since 1993. Not a warehouse. Not an overseas line. A guy at a bench under a Carolina flag, building your shutter to fit the opening.

And every other shape the coast throws at you —

Doors & Sidelites

Working around handles, hinges, and that skinny window by the door.

Door shutters are built with clean cutouts around lever handles so they still operate, and sidelite panels frame the narrow windows flanking your entry.

  • Doors with lever-handle cutouts
  • French & arch-top doors
  • Half doors
  • Sidelites (3" and 4" louver, split tilt available)

Sliding & Bypass Track

For the slider wall facing the water.

Panels hang from an overhead track and glide past each other — the cleanest way to shutter a wide sliding-glass-door opening without losing the door.

  • 2, 4 or 6 panels
  • Overhead track — no floor channel to trip on
  • Ideal for newer Calabash & Sunset Beach builds

Café Shutters

Privacy on the bottom, daylight up top.

Half-hung shutters cover only the lower window. Keep the street or the neighbors out of your kitchen and bath while the morning light still pours in over the top.

  • ½ or ¾ height
  • Any louver size & tilt option
  • Kitchen, bath, and street-facing favorite

Bifold Shutters

Fold them flat and take the whole view back.

Hinged panels fold against the sides of the window for the most unobstructed view of any shutter — then close back over the opening when you want them.

  • 2-panel — LL or RR
  • 3-panel — LRR or LLR
  • Best for picture windows you like fully open

How We Do It

Measured by hand. Built to the shape. Installed by us.

1

Templated, not guessed

For arches and angles, Chad templates the true curve on site — no "close enough." That template goes to the factory.

2

Built to the opening

Cut and finished to your exact geometry in our Monroe, NC workshop. 3–5 weeks; specialty shapes sometimes a touch longer.

3

Installed by Chad & Carter

The same people who measured fit and adjust every panel. No subs hanging a custom shape they didn't template.

Specialty-Shape Questions

The ones we hear at the showroom.

Can you cover an arched or odd-shaped window?
Almost always, yes. We build to the exact geometry — eyebrow and full arches, sunbursts, angles, rakes and trapezoids, multi-panel arches. Nothing gets forced into a rectangle. We've measured most of the shapes the Grand Strand has to offer over the last 30 years.
Do you make shutters for sliding glass doors?
Yes — bypass track shutters are the go-to for slider walls. Panels hang from an overhead track and slide past each other, in 2, 4 or 6 panels. Popular on the newer coastal builds with big sliding-glass walls.
What are café shutters?
Café (half-hung) shutters cover only the lower half of the window — privacy and light control on the bottom, open daylight up top. ½ or ¾ height, any louver size and tilt option. A coastal kitchen and bath favorite.
Can shutters work around door handles and French doors?
Yes. We build cutouts around lever handles so the door still operates, and we cover French and arch-top doors, half doors, and the narrow sidelite windows beside a front door — all to size.
What are bifold shutters?
Hinged panels that fold flat against the sides of the window for the most unobstructed view of any shutter. Available 2-panel (LL or RR) and 3-panel (LRR / LLR).
