North Myrtle Beach Neighborhoods
North Myrtle Beach is technically five towns: Cherry Grove, Ocean Drive, Crescent Beach, Windy Hill and Tilghman. We work all five.
Dalton Taylor started Artisan Shutter in Monroe, NC in 1993 — Dalton, his wife Patti, and his brother Jeff, building plantation shutters one window at a time. Chad came into the trade in 1997, and in 2008 — in the middle of the downturn — he and Dalton became partners and opened the first retail side, "A Shade Above," on Camden Road in South End, Charlotte. Chad was one of the original crew in that shop.
Around 2017, Chad's parents were getting older and he told Dalton he might have to step away to take care of them. Dalton didn't blink: "Don't do that. Move to the beach. Let's open a showroom and you run it." So we did. We literally reshaped the business around one family's needs — which is the only thing "family business" has ever actually meant. For the first six years down here there wasn't a single pay-per-click ad: just word of mouth, yard signs, and that little red roof on the main drag into Cherry Grove.
The Cherry Grove shop is run by Chad, with Carter (his son), Matt and Jenn. Plantation shutters still get built in the Monroe, NC factory. Everything else gets ordered, hauled, and installed by the four of us whose names are on the door here. No subs. When you call 843-273-4573, you reach one of us.
What we hang most here: Poly Shutters on oceanfront and second-row baths (salt-air handles them better), woven wood shades for living rooms with water views, Hunter Douglas Silhouette and Pirouette shades for the renovated condos at Kingston and Crescent, and MagnaTrack storm screens on porches and channel-side decks. Built for the beach. Made to last as long as the house does.
Whole sample wall up — shutters, shade fabrics, blind slats, drapery hardware, storm-screen materials. Bring photos of your windows and we'll talk it through. No appointment needed.
